As I live out in the country, in County Cork, I have unlimited landscapes all round, also our business takes us overseas most years, which gives a different set of inspirations altogether. I take my sketchbook and lots of photographs, to turn into paintings when we return.

A river scene in the town of Bayeux in Normandy.
Acrylic on board.

I found the shape of this beautiful tree in the Tuilleries Gardens in Paris. Have a look for the cat in the bottom right hand corner.
Acrylic on board.
   James in Ireland.
I painted this after I painted James in California (on the cat page).
Acrylic on board.

A view of the sands and the bay from
Le Mont St Michel in Normandy.

Acrylic on board.

 The Cloisters of
Le Mont St Michel.
A beautiful, surreal place.

Acrylic on board.

Mazan. A historical town in Provence, close to the slopes of Mt. Ventoux.

Acrylic on board.
Painted from life.

Fontaine de Vaucluse, in the beautiful South of France.
Acrylic on board.

Theresa's  'Theresa's' in County Cork. A country pub, just down the road from where we used to live. This is one of the few paintings which I completed totally out of doors. It was a June Bank Holiday weekend, so that I had an extra day for painting. The weather was beautiful and the cats kept me company the whole time.
La Jolla Church  A change of scene. This church is in the centre of La Jolla, near San Diego in California. The light is so beautiful and strong in this part of the world and the seagulls are great posers.
Point Loma Lighthouse  Point Loma lighthouse in San Diego, California. Looking out over the city of San Diego and the naval base in one direction - and out over the Pacific in the other.

 The Crystal Pier
The Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach, San Diego. I started this painting sitting in the sun and finished it during a Cork winter. Wish I was there now.
 Crater Lake
Crater Lake in Oregon, U.S.A. A very silent, surreal place, this lake has formed inside the collapsed peak of a volcano. The water is purely rainwater, as no rivers run into it, which gives such an intense blue.
 Chicago Trees
Park just outside Chicago, on the banks of Lake Michigan. This is a watercolour painting with the detail drawn out in pen underneath.
 Pipe Springs Bull
Pipe Springs in Northern Arizona. This national monument is a very picturesque, peaceful place today and this grand old bull caught my eye, dozing in the heat and dreaming of green fields no doubt.
 The Old House
The side of the house where we used to live. My cat Cosimo used to love to sit at the top of the old stairs, sunning his ears.
